TNO Defence and Security produced 4 Cool Gas Generators for the Proba-2 satellite of ESA, that were cleared and accepted by ESA in 2005.
In 2011 and 2012 the first Cool Gas Generators were deployed successfully. These Cool Gas Generators are used to pressurize the propulsion system of the satellite with nitrogen to keep it on track in orbit. Pressurized gas cylinders can’t be launched into space because of their weight, Gas Generators can because they contain a non-pressurized chemical gas storage technology that produces nitrogen gas at ambient temperature when initiated.
